Launch-day tips

Arrive early

For major launches, popular parks fill hours ahead and traffic on SR-528, SR-3 and US-1 backs up. Plan to be in place at least two hours before liftoff.

Know the pad

Kennedy pads (39A, 39B) sit at the north end — Titusville and Playalinda are best. Cape pads (40, 41, 36) favor Port Canaveral and the beaches.

Listen for booms

When a booster returns to a Landing Zone at the Cape, expect sonic booms across Brevard County a few minutes after launch. Droneship landings happen far offshore.

Check before you go

Launch times shift and scrubs are common. Check our Launches page on launch day — we update status, times and windows automatically.

Sound travels about a mile every 5 seconds — from 12 miles away, you'll hear the roar roughly a minute after liftoff.
